We Tried the Peel-Off Mask from Those Instagram Ads
If skincare is one of the topics you follow on Instagram you’ve surely seen ads for the Aprilskin Real Calendula Peeloff Pack.
It claims to be the gentlest peel off mask ever yet it also clears your skin of all impurities. I was too nervous to spend money from an insta ad (I’ve been burned before) BUT my bestie bought it so I thought “Hell I’ll try anything once”.
We started with freshly cleansed faces and as you can see I clearly have some problem areas on my face. I have acne scars and was getting a breakout on my chin (the area I literally ALWAYS break out. I sweat on my chin more than my armpits I’m not even joking).
I also have some decent blackheads on my nose. I’ve used the black charcoal peel off masks before and if the ad was any indication this mask would pull these suckers out just like that one.
The mask actually had the little flower pulp in it like the ad said. I hate pulp in my orange juice but I gotta say I don’t mind it in my masks.
Overall, the consistency was super thin and you really need to pack it on thick to feel like you’re going to get a satisfying peel. The smell was SO GOOD it reminded us of floral green teas and I wanted to drink the stuff on my face. For the smell alone I would use up the whole bottle.
This mask is definitely the gentlest peel off mask I’ve used. It doesn’t adhere to the skin like the more famous ones, looking at you Piggy Hellpore Mask, and it actually started peeling up on it’s own when I talked even the slightest bi.
We waited until the masks felt dry (a whopping 30 plus minutes) and then the time came to peel. I usually try to peel my mask off in one piece but who am I to deny my toddler the satisfaction of helping mommy?
Things escalated quickly, but you could tell I put a thick enough layer on!
When I investigated my scraps in the sunlight I was disappointed to see there were no signs of the nasty being sucked out of my pores. I looked at my besties piece, the nose specifically because my toddler annihilated mine, and I saw no satisfying blackhead corpses.
I didn’t see a huge difference in my skin other than some mild irritation from the peel. My zit had shrunk a little, but other than that this mask was far too gentle to pull sebum out.
Overall, this mask is fine, probably like a 7/10. It smells incredible and I see a lot of positive reviews.
I assume the positive reviews are people who use it more than once. Maybe with weekly use the ingredients gently break down the sebum and you gotta commit to using it long term. She ain’t a one-night stand kinda girl.
I think if you have sensitive skin this could be a really good option for you, otherwise you can fine tons of great peel off masks elsewhere.
